In 1880 what has been known as the "Registration Law" was passed, which required all physicians to personally register with the county clerk their name, place of birth, proposed residence in the county, the institution or society by which they were licensed, and the date of such license or diploma. A refusal to comply with the requirements of this law is a misdemeanor.

Under this law, which went into effect in 1880, the following named physicians have registered in the county clerk's office in Ithaca. The list is valuable for reference and preservation in case of destruction of the record book:
