Newfield Tribune Snippets

January 11, 1890

-- Isaac Palmer has purchased the Hendricks place in Fishkill.

-- Mrs. Abram Palmer, of Ithaca, sold her personal property on her farm in Poney Hollow at the Adamy auction last Thursday, and has rented her farm to a Mr. Hendricks.

-- Samuel Payne, of Breeseport, died Tuesday, and the funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock. The deceased had a great many relatives and friends in this town.

-- Mrs. David Roe died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Crawford, on the Inlet Road Wednesday. Funeral services will be held at Samuel Maybee's this morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. M.S. Rees officiating.

-- Adam Protts, a well known and respected resident, died last week Saturday evening at 5 o'clock afed sixty eight years. The funeral services occurred at the house Monday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. M.s. Rees officiating. The remains were interred in Seabring cemetery.

-- Died on Thursday last at Cayuta, Mrs. Catherine Swartwood, wife of Charles Swartwood, aged sixty years. A husband, three daughters, and three sons survive her. The deceased was well known and highly respected, an affectionate and indulgent mother, and a kind neighbor. the whole community will mourn her loss. Pneumonia was the ailment. Funeral will be held Monday morning at eleven o'clock.

-- On Tuesday evening last, Dec 24, 1889, at the residence of Mrs. J. DeRemer of Newfield, Mr. John D. Tucker of Ithaca and Miss Mary DeRemer, of this village, were united in marriage by Rev. M.S. Rees. the happy couple left on wednesday for Ithaca where they are to reside. May prosperity and happiness be theirs in their new relation.
