Union Valley -- 1892

Alec Shaff is still on the invalid-list.

Rev's S. D. Galpin, of Harford, and D. D. King of Slaterville Springs, made Pastoral calls at Preston Darlin's last Friday.

Abijah Cooper has commenced moving into the tenant house of Mrs. Almira Wattles, whose farm he has taken for the coming year. Sherman Blinn will take the place vacated by Mr. Cooper.

The attendance continues at the religious services held in the evenings at the school house in Caroline. The meetings are increasing in interest; some conversions have taken place, three backsliders have been reclaimed and others have expressed their desire to become Christians.

Feb. 27th 1892, Jane A. I., wife of Preston Darlin, of this place, fell asleep to waken in the resurrection morning. She was 62 years of age at the time of her death, which was caused by dropsy, but for many she had been a great sufferer from catarrh, neualgia, and bronchitis. She was fully prepared for the exchange of world's, being a devout Christian, a loving wife, a firm friend, and an excellent neighbor. The funeral services were held at the Union Valley Church, March 1st, her pastor, Rev. S. D. Galpin, of Harford, conducting them, and the interment took place in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Caroline.

(Note: Maple Grove Cemetery is known today as Caroline Grove Cemetery.  Also there was an area called Union Valley, the area is known today as Canaan. This area was in the Town of Dryden, but on Dec. 5th 1885 it became a part of the Town of Caroline.  There is also Union in Broome Co., so unsure which area they were speaking of).
