Letter from Elbert Schooley to Elwood A. Emery

Dear Sir,

Henry Sawyer had another daughter, named Matilda. She was my grandmother. She married Nathaniel Schooley. They had one son, Edmond Schooley. She died when he was about 2 ½ years old. I cannot give you the date of the marriage or death of Nathaniel (note: written between lines April 6, 1890) and Matilda Schooley. Their son, Edmond was born in the town of Caroline, near Caroline Depot, Tompkins Co., N.Y., November 22, 1854. He married Josephine Elizabeth Owen, who was born December 31, 1854 at Bolivar, N. Y. (note: written between lines: Cattaraugus Co.). They were married, _________ at __________. They had born to them, three children: William who died in infancy, Charles and Elbert. Charles was born Oct. 4, 1879, in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y.. Elbert was born February 26, 1883 in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., NY. Edmund Schooley died November 27, 1907, in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., N. Y.. His wife, Josephine Owen Schooley, died August 3, 1929, in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y.. Charles Schooley married Edith May Morey, who was born January 21, 1875 in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y.. They were married October 12, 1898, at Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y. . To them were born five children: Ferieda, Mary, Owen, Charles and William. Ferieda Marie was born September 11, 1900 at Slaterville Springs, in the town of Caroline, Tompkins Co., N.Y.. She was married July 2, 1925 in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y. to Silas Nahum Ferguson, of Malone, Franklin Co., New York. To them were born two children, Jean and Ellen. Jean Mary was born October 2, 1927, at Malone, Franklin Co., N.Y. Ellen Margaret was born December 4, 1828, at Malone, Franklin Co., N.Y., Mary Elizabeth was born, August 24, 1902, in the twon of Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y.. She was married to Harold George Jayne, of Newark Valley, Tioga Co., N.Y., November 09, 1929 at Nichols, Tioga Co., N. Y.. Owen Edmond was born February 7, 1905, in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y. He married Hasel _____ Jacobs, December 22, 1923 at Candor, N.Y.. To them were born two children, Carl and Edith. Carl Elbert, was born September 2, 1924. Edith Julia was born, October 31, 1925. Charles Morey was born December 19, 1911, in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y. William Edward was born November 12, 1915 at Forestport, in the Town of Forestport, Oneida Co., N.Y.

Elbert Schooley married Ada Rae Henderson, September 20, 1905, at Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y.. His wife was born April 9, 1872 in the town of Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y. To them were born four children: Elbert, Ralph, Hester, and Grace. Elbert Rae was born March 2, 1907, died February 26, 1908, at Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y.. Ralph Lee was born June 2, 1900, at Candor, Tioga Co., N.Y.. He was married to Grace Elizabeth Parker at Caroline depot, Town of Caroline, Tompkins Co., N.Y. , March 15, 1930. To them was born one son, Ralph Lee, Jr., at Ithaca, Tompkins Co., N.Y. on June 26, 1931..Hester Rae was born, July 13, 1918 in the town of Caroline, Tompkins Co., N.Y., Grace Elizabeth was born September 7, 1921 in the town of Caroline, Tompkins Co., N.Y.. Sally Sawyer Stevens had two children, Roland and George. Ervin and (there is a line drawn through Ervin) and DeForest is a grandson, I am not quite sure, but think a letter addressed to DeForest at Freeville, N.Y. would reach him.

Emily Sawyer Perry had children, how many I don't know. She has one son who lives in Ithaca, Charlie Perry. A letter addressed to him at 619 N. Aurora St., Ithaca, N.Y., in care of Mrs. George VandeMark, would reach him, (write on the envelope: Please forward by request of Elbert Schooley) Mrs. VandeMark is my aunt.
